PING has launched a new piece of golf equipment which, as its name most obviously suggests, is specifically designed to help golfers extricate the ball from sand.
The all-new PING BunkR Wedge is aimed those golfers who struggle with bunker shots and is engineered to make it easier to escape from these challenging hazards.
Inspired by Ping’s ground-breaking Eye2 wedge, the BunkR’s high loft, wide sole, user-friendly bounce, and expansive, high-toe face, allows players to utilise a square-faced technique, which simplifies bunker play and enhances consistency.
With 14.5° of bounce, the club moves effortlessly through the sand, minimising resistance and preventing the club from digging too deeply. The 64° loft of the BunkR plays a crucial role in this, enabling golfers to pop the ball high into the air and land it softly onto the green.
Made from premium cast 431 stainless steel, the BunkR wedge is built for durability, while precision-milled MicroMax wedge grooves increase spin and stopping power, ensuring greater control on bunker shots, chips, and approach shots. Its cavity badge enhances feel and feedback.
PING has also incorporated a wedge-specific shaft and grip to enhance playability further. The lightweight Z-Z115 steel shaft is designed with a lower balance point, creating a more balanced feel throughout the swing.
Additionally, the 360 Dyla-wedge Lite Grip is ¾-inch longer than standard, giving players the ability to choke down for better trajectory control and increased versatility around the greens. The lie angle can also be adjusted +/-2° to ensure the perfect fit for every golfer.
