println not showing up in the console

println is not showing up in the console for me.
For the rest I can create apps fine.

I noticed today that the first time I get the following in red:

int logctl_get(): open '/dev/hwlog_switch' fail -1, 13. Permission denied

Note: log switch off, only log_main and log_events will have logs!

Ok I got it.
I have to dial a number and set logging on.
And don't reboot.

I leave the issue open in case it is possible to detect which phones are affected by this or make a not in the docs or whatever.
