President-elect Donald Trump’s Capitol Hill supporters are demanding that if a secret ethics report on attorney general nominee Matt Gaetz is going to be released by Democrats, all sealed reports on wayward members and past scandals should be made public.
With Democrats eager to embarrass Trump and Gaetz by releasing a report on ethical charges he faced as a House member, Republicans are now urging the release of reports on Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Jeffrey Epstein’s client list.
“If we are going to release ethics reports and rip apart our own that Trump has appointed, then put it ALL out there for the American people to see,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said on X.
For my Republican colleagues in the House and Senate,
If we are going to release ethics reports and rip apart our own that Trump has appointed, then put it ALL out there for the American people to see.
Yes..

November 19, 2024Matt Schlapp, the chairman of the Conservative Political Action Conference, said that his group will be tracking those critical of Trump’s picks and added his call for the release of potentially salacious ethics reports if the House breaks its own practice of locking up reports on past members such as Gaetz, who resigned last week to prepare for his confirmation hearings next January.
Some even called for the release of sealed reports on the John F. Kennedy assassination, UFOs, and COVID-19.
“Which Trump declassification files are you most excited to see?” Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) asked in a social media post listing national coverups.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said he opposes the release of the House Ethics Committee report on Gaetz, who was probed after allegations of sexual misconduct and illicit drug use were made.
“Do I think a report, if it exists, should be released? And the answer is no, because we have a rule on that,” Johnson said.
Democrats continue to seethe at Trump’s win earlier this month and are angered at several of his Cabinet selections, including Gaetz.
Greene said that what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

November 19, 2024“All your sexual harassment and assault claims that were secretly settled paying off victims with taxpayer money. The entire Jeffrey Epstein files, tapes, recordings, witness interviews. But not just those, there’s more, Epstein wasn’t/isn’t the only asset. If we’re going to dance, let’s all dance in the sunlight. I’ll make sure we do,” she wrote.

Trump has been working the phones to line up Senate GOP support for Gaetz and his other picks. On Tuesday, for example, Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) appeared to back off his demand for the Gaetz report.
On CNBC, he sounded more favorable to Gaetz and indicated he would vote to confirm him. “His picks have been maybe 'unconventional,' but we hired an unconventional president. The American people wanted that,” Mullin said.
"He got the memo," a Trump associate said.
