990 Days of Education Ban for Afghan Girls Yesterday marked the 990th day that Afghan girls have been banned from attending school. This prolonged period has severely impacted the future of thousands of Afghan girls, depriving them of educational opportunities and personal growth. 🧕 Individual Impacts of Depriving Girls of Education: 1. Academic and Cultural Poverty: -Lack of access to education deprives girls of acquiring scientific and cultural knowledge, negatively affecting their ability to analyze issues and make informed decisions. 2. Reduced Self-Confidence: -Education plays a crucial role in boosting girls' confidence and self-belief. Being denied this right can lead to decreased self-esteem and a sense of inadequacy. 3. Limited Employment Opportunities: - Without education, girls miss out on better job opportunities and adequate income, which negatively impacts their economic and social life. 4. Reduced Social Skills: - Education provides numerous opportunities for social interaction and the development of communication skills. Being excluded from educational environments limits these opportunities and social capabilities. 5. Psychological and Emotional Issues: - Lack of access to educational and social environments can lead to psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, and feelings of isolation in girls. 6. Financial and Social Dependency: - Without education, girls remain more dependent on their families and others, hindering their financial and social independence. 👨‍👩‍👦 Social Impacts of Depriving Girls of Education: 1. Poverty and Unemployment: - Without access to education, girls lack the skills and knowledge necessary for various jobs, leading to increased poverty and unemployment in society. 2. Mental and Physical Health: - The absence of a bright future and educational environments contributes to mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Additionally, health and hygiene education receive less attention. 3. Early Marriages: - Lack of education increases the likelihood of early marriages, leading to numerous social and familial issues. 4. Gender Inequality: - Depriving girls of education reinforces gender inequalities, hindering overall societal progress and development. 5. Weak Social Structure: - The lack of education for girls means a shortage of skilled and educated individuals in society, weakening social and economic structures. Organization for Reducing Poverty (ORP) has successfully signed a long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief and Development (ACBAR) through an open call announcement entitled “Supporting Humanitarian Assistance and Protection Response in Afghanistan - Twinning Program Plus” (SHAPE - TPP) “Localization of the humanitarian response in Afghanistan through capacity building of national NGOs, The SHAPE TPP aims to build the capacity of ORP through training, mentoring, and cooperative activities in partnership with ACBAR’s INGO members. The program will achieve two outcomes as outlined below. Outcome 1: Improved coordination among stakeholders, and strengthened advocacy, protection, and organizational capacity of NNGOs. Outcome 2: Increased participation and improved capabilities of NNGOs to implement AHF, humanitarian, and development programs either individually or in partnership with other NGOs that deliver essential aid and services.
