Meta Ads Advice (so you don't loose money) : If your target market is super tight ( example : Elementary school managers). Direct targeting will not work AT ALL. Because that data is super limited. The best way is to build your retargeting and similar audiences. Through Multi step ads or funnel. Example : Ad 1 : Guide to manage your school like in the Japanese Educational System. (track the downloads). Ad 2 : your offer (retargeting those who visited Ad1 and those who downloaded the guide). But if your market is super large : example : parents with babies. Do we hire an SaaS SEO agency or do we do things in house ? (The all-too common dilemma) So let’s consider both options : (I’ve also been on the other side of this equation too) With hiring an agency, the main perks are : ✅ Access to high end tailored SaaS SEO processes & playbooks → For example, here at Scalerrs, we model out SEO to remove the unpredictable side of SEO, and tie everything back to conversion potential and ROI (Content assets/links needed to rank specific targets). Very few know how to approach this ^ ✅ Access to tools and reporting systems → SEO tech stacks are very costly, especially if you consider building a data warehouse setup for visualising and taking better decisions during your campaign. ✅  Blended learnings across clients → This is under rated, but blending learnings across different SaaS projects really allows for a wealth of expertise within your project. ✅  Flexibility & ability to scale up or down → This is also hard to do internally where hiring times are often 30-45 day windows where you also need to have enough workload to justify a full time role. On the flip side, The real main perk with in house is : ☑️ Building long term value of the business → Naturally if you internalise a department the value of the business will increase After this doesn’t rule out the possibility of → Onboarding an agency, taking their learnings and bring operations in house later on. NEVER rely on Metas SKAN or AEM results. How to evaluate iOS campaigns for subscription apps 👇 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗞𝗔𝗡 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Conversion event has to happen within 24h. No downfunnel tracking for % trial-to-paid. Results come in with a delay of 1 - 2 days. And then there’s the privacy threshold. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗘𝗠 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Meta makes up your conversion data. You have no ability to check how. You still can't assess downfunnel. So how to make sense of that data? ✖️ 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 Do so by running an incrementality test. Check the baseline for your optimization event (in most cases trial starts) in your event tracking. Once you turn on ad campaigns this baseline will move up. Run this for at least a week, keep everything else stable and compare the new baseline against the old one. The delta are your incremental trials coming from Meta Ads. Compare these against Meta reporting and you have your multiplier. 🧩 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 You now know that 1 SKAN trial equals 1.X actual trials. Congrats. Apply your value estimations on top of that: % Trial to paid Share of 1M / 12M Renewal rates per SKU K-factor to include virality Other revenue sources like IAPs Lagging subscriptions that happen after 24h 📍 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 Meta traffic will perform differently to other channels. Older audiences will perform mostly better than younger ones. Look at data from your onboarding surveys. Cross-check users who opted in to ATT and have been attributed. Identify how their behavior differs from the rest of your traffic. Add it to the puzzle. Set CPT goals on channel and potentially audience level. 📈 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 LTV:CAC doesn’t matter. What matters: when you break even. Keep an eye on your overall payback period and if it matches your prediction. Make sure you can afford your ad spend until it recoups. Revalidate and finetune  your model as you scale. Play it save. AEM tracking discrepancy I tend to see: 20%+ SKAN tracking discrepancy I tend to see: 40%+ Don't take decisions based on what's reported in Ads Manager. How SEO has changed in the last 10 years Apr 13, 2024 𝗘-𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗘𝗢 𝟭𝟬+ 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼: - Tyranny of choice - many ecommerce platforms to choose from - Technical complexity - you had to hack many of these platforms to get them to work for SEO and adding functionality was expensive - SEO traffic was high - You could build a business just on SEO traffic and not do paid traffic or social media - Link building was cheap and easy - It was more cost effective and easer to buy links than to build real ones - Opportunities were many - There were fewer 800 pound gorillas in many industries 𝗘-𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗘𝗢 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆: - Platforms like Shopify massively reduce cost and improve your speed to market - More paid traffic platforms now allow you to accelerate your SEO growth - Social platforms allow you to more quickly build a brand and an audience to help grow your business - However Google has become much harder to game. Spammy link building is tougher and being #1 is no longer a guarantee of high Traffic and sales - There has been a massive consolidation of traffic in the hands of a small group of big brands which leverage their domain power to own more of the serps. I don’t care what anyone says —Some things get easier, others get harder at the same time. The only constant in change and we can only succeed if we are willing to adapt and change "who" we think we are and "what" we do.
