📢 Korea RRA Updates Technical Regulations for Marine Radio Devices Technical regulations regarding marine radio devices are planned to be revised in accordance with international standards (ITU/IMO). Please refer to the details below. Public opinions will be collected until August 23, 2024. ✅ Location Transmitter for Search and Rescue: The regulations on technical standards for search and rescue, which were stricter than international standards, will be relaxed to the level of international standards. ✅ Satellite Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB): In accordance with international standards, the content is updated to mandate that the Satellite EPIRB be equipped with an Automatic Identification System (AIS) function. ✅ Onboard Communication Station: Analog transmitters using a channel spacing of 25 kHz are specified to have an occupied bandwidth of 16 kHz, and analog transmitters using a channel spacing of 12.5 kHz are specified to have an occupied bandwidth of 8.5 kHz. ✅ Autonomous Maritime Radio Equipment: To resolve the ambiguity of transmission messages such as identification numbers and navigation status, it will comply with ITU recommendations to align with international standards. https://lnkd.in/gRfCiVFs Article title: Concerning the relationship between noise on board ship and the onset of hypertension in seafarers Author(s): Dominique Jégaden* Journal: Archives of Preventive Medicine Journal ISSN: 2640-7868 Abstract: The suicide rates in the world have been growing in the past century [1] and the rates in the United States have rapidly increased by about 33%, from 10.5 per 100,000 population in 1999 to 14.0 in 2017 [2], regardless of prevention efforts with affluent funding [3]. On the other hand, the overall suicide rate in China has decreased from 23.0/100,000 in 1999 to 8.6/100,000 in 2017, marking a 63% drop over past two decades [4]. The most marked decrease has been observed in young women in rural areas under 35 years of age, whose suicide rate appears to have dropped by as much as 90% [4]. Compared to the US, far less funding has been provided in China for suicide research and prevention and for a much larger population. What have the Chinese been doing in the past three decades to have made its suicide rates dropped? What lessens can we learn from China in suicide prevention? ETSDC offers GMDSS – GOC course intended for OIC’s/ Deck Officers, Radio Operators and other personnel assigned to the radio communication functions for all types of vessels like; Passenger or Cruise ship, Cargo ship, Tanker vessels, Sailing yacht, and Offshore rigs/or drilling vessel units. A learner successfully completing this course and passing the prescribed examination should be able to operate efficiently the GMDSS equipment required to be fitted in sea areas A1, A2, A3 and A4, and to have primary responsibility for radio communications during distress, urgency, safety and routine incidents. Given the severe problems being experienced in the GMDSS as a result of the large number of false distress alerts that occur, training will also be provided in techniques to avoid the unintentional transmission of false distress alerts and the procedures to use in order to mitigate the effects of false distress alerts following unintentional transmission. This course is accredited by UAE MOEI – FMA, The Republic of Liberia and Marshall Islands.
