Achieving #GenderEquality in science is key to address the complex global challenges we face. That’s why girls should never feel discouraged from following their dreams to become scientists. We must convey to them that such goals are absolutely attainable. Gender equality in science isn't a distant aspiration; it's within our reach. To achieve it, we need concerted action from all sectors – public and private – to: 1️⃣Dismantle gender stereotypes and biases in science 2️⃣Open educational pathways for girls in science 3️⃣ Create workplace environments that attract, retain, and advance women scientists Together, we can break the glass ceiling and foster a future where everyone has the opportunity to contribute to scientific advancements. Let's inspire and support the next generation of #WomenInScience! Read more about UNESCO’s actions in this field: https://lnkd.in/eDvehf_E

🌟 Five young engineering students are transforming the agricultural landscape and creating employment opportunities for youth in #Uganda and beyond! Introducing the "Smart Kuku Brooder system" – their groundbreaking solution to one of farmers' biggest challenges: high chick mortality due to poor temperature regulation. This innovative device redefines poultry farming in local households by automatically maintaining optimal conditions for chick rearing. It promotes sustainable development by utilizing both solar and electricity for heating, lighting, and humidity control. This year, the #G20Brasil took the decision to engage further civil society in the #G20 process. Last week, during the Sherpa meeting, the 13 engagement groups of G20 presented their recommendations to the members, invited States and international organizations. As the UNESCO’s Director-General, Audrey Azoulay, stated during the last G20 Foreign Ministers meeting, we need “to deliver more efficient and close cooperation with civil society on issues that absolutely need its contribution.” UNESCO strongly welcomes this initiative. As a longstanding supporter of the involvement of civil society, our Organization is working to create spaces for dialogue between governments, artists, educators, academics, businesses and youth. This year, UNESCO is contributing to different engagement groups including Justice 20, Ocean 20, Youth 20, Think 20, and Business 20. ⚖️On justice, and because we must ensure the use of technology to enhance the efficiency of the judiciary, UNESCO has provided the group with data on the usage of Artificial intelligence in the judiciary. 🗣️ When 16% of the global population is composed of young people, UNESCO reaffirmed its commitment to this group by providing training to the G20 youth delegates through the UNESCO MGIEP to empower youth. 🌊As the lead agency for the Ocean Decade, UNESCO is supporting the G20 through implementation of Marine Spatial Planning Frameworks that balance ocean conservation and economic development. UNESCO is looking forward to partnering with the #G20Brasil for the #G20Social Summit. Charaf Ahmimed #UNESCO

Youth is the strength of societies. 💪 Ten years ago, the UN established World Youth Skills Day to highlight the importance of equipping young people with essential skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. As we celebrate its 10th anniversary, we reflect on progress and the need to adapt to changing educational and labor markets. Today's youth face challenges such as violent conflicts, unsafe educational environments, online hate speech, and unequal economic opportunities. Addressing these issues is crucial for equipping youth to participate effectively in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. Today we mark #YouthSkillsDay. Let us commit to empowering young people for a peaceful, just, and inclusive future: https://lnkd.in/eHiKUUiD
