The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
À propos
The mission of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. The OECD provides a forum in which governments can work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems. We work with governments to understand what drives economic, social and environmental change. We measure productivity and global flows of trade and investment. We analyse and compare data to predict future trends. We set international standards on a wide range of things, from agriculture and tax to the safety of chemicals. We look, too, at issues that directly affect the lives of ordinary people, like how much they pay in taxes and social security, and how much leisure time they can take. We compare how different countries’ school systems are readying their young people for modern life, and how different countries’ pension systems will look after their citizens in old age. Drawing on facts and real-life experience, we recommend policies designed to make the lives of ordinary people better. The common thread of our work is a shared commitment to market economies backed by democratic institutions and focused on the wellbeing of all citizens.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Steve MacFeely as the new Chief Statistician of the OECD, a key role within the organisation. The OECD delivers high-quality, innovative statistics as part of a dynamic data ecosystem. Trusted and timely statistics are the backbone of the Organisation in our work to deliver better policies and find effective multilateral solutions to the shared global challenges of our time. The OECD also leads in developing and promoting international statistical standards, including key contributions to the 2025 updates to the System of National Accounts and the Balance of Payments Manual. Steve joins the OECD as Chief Statistician and Director of the Statistics and Data Directorate, bringing with him extensive experience from the World Health Organization (WHO) and other United Nations agencies, as well as the CSO (Central Statistics Office Ireland). Are multilateral organisations financially equipped to tackle global challenges like poverty and climate change? The share of total development aid provided by and channelled through multilateral organisations — including The World Bank , International Monetary Fund, and United Nations agencies — has increased over the past decade. It now surpasses aid provided purely bilaterally by donor countries, with a share of 61% in 2022 versus 45% in 2012. The broad reach and expertise of multilateral organisations make them indispensable for a collective response to global challenges like poverty, climate change, and conflicts. However, despite increasing financial commitments, many organisations have cut back on concessional finance, limiting their capacity to tackle poverty and support countries at risk of debt. Ahead of the Summit of the Future this month, which seeks "multilateral solutions for a better tomorrow," discover 🆕 OECD Development analysis of aid flows and reforms of the multilateral system: https://brnw.ch/21wMn2K | #OurCommonFuture #FfD4

To boost economic growth, Africa must invest in better skills for better jobs. By 2050, Africa’s working-age population will double. Education levels are rising, but most workers still have low-quality, informal jobs due to skill gaps and a lack of quality employment. Over 80% of African young people aim for high-skilled jobs, but only 8% find them. Skill shortages in key sectors, such as agrifood, renewable energies and mining, hinder private investment, perpetuating economic informality. How can we shift this dynamic? ➡ Expand quality education ➡ Develop national skill strategies ➡ Improve labour market data ➡ Boost informal worker productivity ➡ Invest in technical and vocational education ➡ Harmonise regional frameworks Learn more in the new #AfricaDevelopment Dynamics report via OECD #OpenAccess ➡️ https://brnw.ch/21wMeaZ OECD Development
