Beyond Compliance: Turn the EUDR into an Opportunity for Your Organization 🌱 The European Regulation on Deforestation and Forest Degradation (EUDR) is approaching, and your company may be asking: - What will be the actual impact? What are the precise legal requirements and specific risks for our value chains? - How can we align our entire organization, as well as our key partners, to confidently navigate this new phase? - What are the concrete first steps to ensure compliance and turn this challenge into an opportunity to enhance our value chains? At Kinomé, we have designed a dedicated workshop to support you through this transition, step by step: Customized Preparation: A one-hour call with your EUDR lead to define participants, adapt the agenda, and ensure that every moment of the workshop meets your organization’s specific needs. Interactive Workshop: A half-day session including an in-depth presentation on EUDR requirements, a Q&A session, and a participatory discussion where each company function can identify its responsibilities and next steps. Concrete and Actionable Deliverable: A comprehensive document compiling all elements shared during the workshop, a summary of discussions, and practical recommendations for an initial action plan aligned with your objectives. 🎯 Target Audience: SMEs whose supply chains include one or more target commodities (coffee, cocoa, rubber, palm oil, soy, cattle, and timber). The workshop will be adapted to the organization’s level of maturity and needs. 🌍 With 20 years of experience in 40+ countries, Kinomé supports companies in designing and implementing positive impact sourcing strategies. We go beyond simple compliance to guide you toward an integrated approach that maximizes your social and environmental impact. As an independent entity without certification services, we offer a neutral perspective focused on your challenges and the development of sustainable solutions. Ready to seize this opportunity? End of my mini-series on Biodiversity: What to take away from COP16? For me, it was this sunrise encounter yesterday morning with a hummingbird! I had just spent the night in a nature reserve, only 30 minutes from downtown Cali, after an intense week of activity. Despite the heavy rain weighing down its feathers, the hummingbird continued its characteristic hovering flights, essential to feed on nectar from flowers, interspersed with moments of rest. In a way, it summed up the week, bidding me farewell: -never before has the Biodiversity COP generated so much political and economic interest. Previously, due to being misunderstood and hard to act upon, biodiversity issues lagged far behind climate or energy transition topics. The collapse of living organisms (73% of wild vertebrates lost in the past 50 years - WWF source) is, however, faster and more drastic than climate change, impacting all continents (70 to 80% of insects have disappeared from European agro-industrial landscapes over the last 10 years - Natural History Museum source). Yet, it is harder to grasp and even harder to monetize… -biodiversity doesn’t disappear by itself, nor can it be preserved without us. I am therefore heartened by the popular success of COP16 in Cali, with a public green zone filled to capacity during the 12 days of COP, and the participation of countless associations, businesses, artisans… Green-washing, one might think? Perhaps partly, but I choose to focus on the general enthusiasm and the smiles of children. We will need that. -recognition of Indigenous peoples in a permanent group within the Biodiversity Convention. Although they represent 6% of the global population, the territories they inhabit contain 80% of terrestrial biodiversity. They are the first victims of biodiversity collapse but also the best positioned to ensure the "nature stewardship" that everyone spoke of during COP16. -true, there is no “silver bullet” yet for biodiversity financing or dedicated funds. The clock is ticking, and we need a common language and possibly a shared unit of account (but can this align with the very concept of biodiversity?). Yet, "while construction is underway, business must go on," existing frameworks must improve, and new initiatives must emerge. In this regard, the very warm reception of our MBCF - Mitsiry Biodiversity and Climate Fund - is a good sign. -the idea of “working together” is also an encouraging sign. Silos are gradually disappearing between environmental, economic, and social sectors. This dynamic was actively present at COP16, and we contributed practically through the BIODEV2030 project. Let’s build on these positive trends so that the hummingbird can continue to amaze us!

𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐔 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? The European Commission’s potential delay of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) isn’t a reason to pause; it's an opportunity to get ahead and look beyond basic compliance. The EUDR is set to transform global supply chains, pushing companies to ensure their products are deforestation-free. Compliance means gathering geolocation data, ensuring traceability, conducting risk assessments, and confirming verification.
