#KeyFacts - While Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IP&LCs) in the global south are leading the way in protecting biodiversity and natural resources, a study reveals a massive funding gap. Rainforest Foundation Norway found that less than 1% of global climate finance reached IP&LCs over the past decade. This is despite evidence that their forest ecosystems boast superior conservation of water, biodiversity, and other resources. Time to bridge the gap! IPLCs deserve support for their crucial role in protecting our planet. 🇫🇷 Alors que les peuples autochtones et les communautés locales (IP&LC) jouent un rôle de premier plan dans la protection de la biodiversité et des ressources naturelles, une étude révèle toutefois un important fossé en matière de financement. La Rainforest Foundation Norway a constaté que moins de 1 % du financement mondial pour le climat est parvenu aux IP&LC au cours de la dernière décennie. Pourtant, il est prouvé que leurs écosystèmes forestiers se caractérisent par une meilleure conservation de l'eau, de la biodiversité et d'autres ressources. Mediterranean Monk Seal Watching Guidelines 🦭 The Mediterranean monk seal is endangered, despite a recent increase in populations. This summer, if you're travelling (particularly in Greece, Cyprus or Turkey), you could come across one! Stay out of the caves (their last refuge) and take the right precautions not to disturb them when they are giving birth, as this could cause them to flee or even result in the mother abandoning her pup! On #WorldTigerDay, we celebrate a victory! The Amur tiger was on the brink of extinction. But thanks to the incredible work of WWF International with our support, these majestic creatures are returning home! Together, we've tripled protected areas, boosted prey populations, and stopped poachers. The result? Amur tiger numbers have doubled in just 5 years! 🇫🇷 En cette Journée mondiale du tigre, nous célébrons une belle victoire ! Le tigre de l'Amour était en voie d'extinction. Mais grâce à l'incroyable travail du WWF International avec notre soutien, ces créatures majestueuses sont de retour chez elles ! Ensemble, nous avons triplé les zones protégées, augmenté les populations de proies et bloqué les activités des braconniers. Résultat ?
