This was EPIC's first time exhibiting at Precisiebeurs, and we received a warm welcome from the participants. While the funding for the Chips Joint Undertaking may have generated high expectations, we also saw a strong synergy between photonics and precision technology. During the tech session, several EPIC members showcased their innovations: Acktar Ltd. International presented their BlackTM coating for photonics and semiconductor equipment. Demcon focal showcased their marker alignment technology. EKSPLA introduced their femtosecond laser for precise material micromachining. We also want to thank Lithuanian Laser Association, Direct Machining Control, TNO, Hamamatsu Photonics Europe, attocube systems AG, Ommatidia LIDAR for guiding the participants on a tour for young talent eager to learn more about the technologies and career opportunities in our field. The EPIC Meeting on #Microelectronics and Photonics brought industry leaders together to discuss on the following topics: Integrated Photonics, Metrology, Lithography, and Advanced Processing. Yole Group opened with a keynote, offering insights into fields like #Quantum, #ARVR, and Photonic Integrated Circuits (#PICs), and emphasized the synergy between photonics and microelectronics as "two sides of the same coin." Highlights included Black Semiconductor’s €250 million investment in #graphene-based PICs and in-depth discussions on EUV, nanoimprint, and e-beam lithography. Atendees also learned about new metrology tools from Mitutoyo Europe, Hitachi, HORIBA, and others. ELEMENT 3-5 GmbH introduced a novel epitaxy deposition method, while EV Group showcased advanced bonding techniques. New EPIC member, SWHL GmbH is developing Sub-Wavelength Holographic Lithography Technology (SWHL). SWHL is a disruptive #photolithography technology that has a unique capability to produce high-resolution arbitrary 2.5D images on non-flat deep profile surfaces and arbitrary 3D images in thick photoresist at a single exposure with a simple flat holographic mask. The SWHL technology is applicable from g-, h- and i-line processes to sub-10nm nodes. It's 3D patterning capabilities are particularly beneficial for such applications as production of #photonics, MEMS, Advanced Packaging. In the framework of EU project HoliSTEP, SWHL GmbH in a consortium of six European companies and universities are developing and building and validating a holographic stepper with resolution of 250nm and alignment accuracy of 30nm. https://apholo.ch #EPICmember #photonicseu #lithography
