[Let’s talk innovation 💡] A core force for innovation At Colas, R&D has a name: CORE (for COlas REsearch). In an ever-changing world, we must constantly innovate and drive mobility research forward. Our research activities are aimed at finding solutions for more responsible and sustainable mobility. Along with our private R&D center, the Core Center, 22 of our total 270 laboratories around the world are involved in R&D at Colas. At these R&D labs, specialized teams are currently working on conceptualizing, designing and developing many research projects. [Press release 📢] Our Finnish subsidiary Destia Oy has been awarded seven multi-year road maintenance contracts for upkeep of roads and surrounding areas (drainage systems, traffic signs and green space management), and winter maintenance. Annual maintenance will help: - improve the quality of the roads, - meet user needs by ensuring traffic flow and safety, - avoid the additional costs associated with complete infrastructure reconstruction. As part of these seven five- to six-year contracts, Destia will operate in two new regions of the country, while continuing its maintenance activities in five others. Our subsidiary is the leading provider of transport infrastructure maintenance services in Finland, currently responsible for 33 of the 79 road maintenance contracts. [Our highlights 💛] The eleventh edition of Safety Week drew to a close on June 14. Colas’ 65,000 employees around the world were reminded of the critical importance to stop, think and act when faced with a last-minute change, unusual conditions and taking the initiative. [Together 💛] Colas Foundation is extending its support for the social and professional integration of young people by backing two international partners for one year. 👩🎓 The Enfants du Mekong association: helping young people from ethnic minorities in South-East Asia to integrate into society Colas Foundation is committed to supporting integration programs in three countries: Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand, with a total of 5,083 students. As part of this partnership, Colas employees will be involved in patronage initiatives and will take part in career guidance and integration forums organized by the association. They will share their experience to help students identify their own talents, help them prepare for job interviews and offer them the opportunity to visit their offices or work sites. 👷♂️ The IECD - Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement: promoting the integration of young people into the energy, industry and construction trades Colas Foundation will support the "Graines d’Espérance" program, which aims to improve the quality of teaching in these technical fields. In 2024, 155 young people in the Al Haouz region of Morocco will receive training in the installation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems. In Cairo, Egypt, 1,500 people, 34% of whom women, will be trained in electrical maintenance and industrial automation. [Our highlights 💛] Facing the unexpected! 👷♀️👷♂️ Safety is at the heart of our activities and concerns. It is a daily fight. And also an annual event that we’ve been holding for more than 10 years. These kinds of privileged moments of exchange contribute to remind every employee of the importance of being uncompromising in the application of safety rules to achieve our “Zero Accident” objective. And so from June 10 to 14, our 65,000 employees around the world are mobilized and trained in health and safety issues. This year, we chose to raise awareness on the risks associated with last-minute changes, unusual conditions or taking the initiative. Why this theme❓ When we analyze the causes of our serious accidents or accidents that could have been serious - the “HiPo” (high potential for severity), we find that very often they occur after a last-minute change that was not taken into account in the execution of the tasks to be carried out. 🎥 Throughout the week, videos, animations and workshops are organized. [We ACT for the planet 🌍] Today we hold our 4th Environment Day at all our sites worldwide. As one of the world's leading recyclers, we chose to dedicate this day to circular economy and waste management ♻ We recover and reuse waste, rubble and materials from demolition operations, as well as other activities, on infrastructure projects and at our recycling and cleanfilling facilities, proof if needed of the Group’s focus on a circular economy serving local communities.
