Php not running on XAMPP

Hi folks, hope I posted this in the right forum, apologies if not.

 

I installed XAMPP "out of the box" onto my PC running Vista.  However, when I try and run a PHP file, the file does not run, instead I get the message "Do you want to Open Or Save this File".  The PHP file is just a little test file in htdocs.

 

I've tried reinstalling and I've also signed out of Skype (which apparently can cause a conflict)

 

Any ideas ?  many thanks.

Are you accessing the file via http://localhost ?

Hi

When I try http://localhost/xampp/  I get a 403 error

 

Incidentally, I just installed WAMP server and I get the same issue when I try to run PHP files

Does the xamp directory exist within your htdocs directory?
