php/mysql connection problem/some php_mysql function don't work

Recommended Posts

Dear all

I have installed apache 2, php 5, mysql server 5. Apache and php are working fine. When i am calling queries to mysql they fail.
i.e.
<?php
$connect = mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "mysqlpass") or die ("check your server connection.");
mysql_create_db("mytest") or die(mysql_error());
?>

when i do c:/show databases there is not a new database created.
however when i make by intention the password wrong it returns the "check your server connection".For some reason some php functions for mysql don't seem to work. In which direction should i look??

Many thanks

Cheers

Jan
If you ahve PHP5 then you'll need to enable the mysql extension. Please read this thread.
