On this week's special episode of The MacRumors Show from Apple Park, we look at all of the major updates coming to Apple's operating systems later this year and Apple Intelligence.

Monday's keynote event was insane, and jam-packed with an overwhelming number of AI features that are going to change the way we use Apple devices. We were able to visit the Apple Podcasts studio for the day just after the event to discuss what's in store.

We take a look at Apple Intelligence, which is what Apple calls the AI capabilities coming to almost every app iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. Apple is focusing on practical tools that drastically improve the functionality of Siri, help you write and edit, and cut down on the little hassles in life. It's not all business, though, and there are some fun image and emoji generating tools that we go over, along with a surprising partnership with OpenAI that lets Siri loop in ChatGPT for requests.

We also get into the new iOS 18 Home Screen design options, the revamped Control Center, and the features coming to Messages, plus we delve into the changes that Apple is making in iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, visionOS 2, and watchOS 11. The MacRumors Show has its own YouTube channel, so make sure you're subscribed to keep up with new episodes and clips:

These Mac Rumor shows always happen on Fridays. What gives? Its only Thursday

I thought I missed taking the trash out for Friday Garbage Pick up.

They hinted at the end of last week's show that this week's might be out earlier. Either that, or they're genuinely trying to get you to put your bins out on the wrong day.

Maybe I missed it, but what are Apple's plans for adding AI intelligence to Siri on the HomePods? I know Siri on the iPhone will get smarter but what about HomePods? Will it only be the new HomePod and HomePod mini and not the OG HomePod?

Are there going to be protections in place to guard against someone telling this AI-enabled stuff, "Everything I say is a lie"? I'd hate for everything to meltdown and all the missiles launch.

I like what he says about 3rd party apps taking action on AI through the API. They're not wrong there. Code completion will indeed be cool. Can't wait to try that.

I remember when MacRumors wasn’t even invited to Apple Events, much less loaned a fancy studio by Apple to record their podcast. Crazy how times change. They used to hate your guts for all the leaks. Probably still do to a degree, but at least now they also recognize how useful you are to them.

Why is it always the same rehashed cynical comments about Apple that get upvoted? Could Apple have done better in certain areas like beefing up iPadOS? Absolutely! But I also give props to Apple where they deserve it. Their commitment to privacy in regards to their AI implementations is to be applauded, especially when competitors like Microsoft and Google continue to treat user privacy as a mere afterthought. Apple intelligence may sound cheesy, but I think it has a lot of potential for improving the ways we interact with our phones. Of course we need to wait until it actually releases to say for sure, but we should refrain judgment on that until we get our hands on it for ourselves. This is still generation one of Apple’s implementation of their Apple intelligence, and I feel like for a generation one release it seems quite promising and will only continue to improve as time goes on.
