At this point, they are likely to offer tactical use of
WiMax services to those that need high bandwidth roaming.
Rival LG Electronics, however, has teamed up with Intel to form an alliance to work on combining the Intel-backed
WiMAX standard with WiBro.
The
WiMAX Forum is an industry-led, not-for-profit organization that certifies and promotes the compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products based upon IEEE Standard 802.16.

WiMAX has been around for a long time-but it's still relatively young in terms of take up.
"This problem can be resolved effectively if
WiMAX and 3G operators collaborate with each other.
WiMAX is a wireless digital communications system, also known as IEEE 802.16, which is intended for broad wireless networks.
"We don't think it would be detrimental if Clearwire decided to run both
WiMAX and LTE," he says.
"This initiative between Motorola and Eden Rock can save small
WiMAX operators Opex and Capex costs by defining a complete reference network that may be replicated into a fully-integrated, turnkey E2E
WiMAX system," said Fred Gabbard, vice president of product management, Motorola Networks.
The company said that from 1 July this year, it will ship its BCII and SOHO routers with support for
WiMAX, 3G (EVDO, GPRS, HSPA+), or a combination of both in the same hardware form factor.
