Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Royal Tenenbaums, 21/22 Jump Street) The Croods: A New Age) is the composer of the new Apple TV+ original series Time Bandits. The show is created by Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords), Iain Morris (The Inbetweeners, Next Goal Wins) & Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Love and Thunder) based on Terry Gilliam’s 1981 feature of the same title and stars Lisa Kudrow, Kal-El Tuck, Tadhg Murphy, Rune Temte, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Charlyne Yi, Kiera Thompson, Rachel House, James Dryden, Francesca Mills, Felicity Ward and Imaan Hadchiti. The 10-part comedic adventure follows a ragtag group of thieves and their newest recruit, an 11-year-old history buff, who set out on a quest to save the boy’s parents – and the world.
Clement and Morris serve as the project’s showrunners and are also executive producing the Paramount Television Studios, AC Studios & MRC production with Waititi, Garrett Basch (Ripley, Devs) and Tim Coddington (Cowboy Bebop, Thai Cave Rescue), as well as Handmade Films’ Jane Stanton. Mothersbaugh has previously collaborated with Waititi on the feature Thor: Ragnarok and the TV shows Our Flag Means Death and What We Do in the Shadows, which will return for a sixth and final season. Time Bandits will premiere on July 24, 2024 exclusively on Apple TV+.
Mothersbaugh’s recent projects Alexis Spraic’s documentary The World According to Alle Willis, which premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and has been picked up by Magnolia Pictures for domestic distribution, as well as Chris Smith’s Devo documentary, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is also awaiting a release date. He is also expected to return to score the second season of National Geographic’s Disney+ documentary series A Real Bug’s Life
