The full details of the soundtrack album for the historical epic The Woman King have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Malcolm X, 25th Hour, Harriet, Red Tails, Perry Mason, Da 5 Bloods, Inside Man), as well as vocal contributions from South African producer, composer & singer Lebo M and Grammy Award winner Dianne Reeves. Also included is the original song Keep Rising by Jessy Wilson feat. Angélique Kidjo (already out now as a digital single). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, September 16 by Milan Records and is now available for pre-order here. The Woman King is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and stars Viola Davis, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim, Hero Fiennes Tiffin and John Boyega. The movie tells the true story of the Agojie, the all-female military regiment charged with protecting the embattled African Kingdom of Dahomey. The drama will be released in theaters nationwide this coming weekend by Sony Pictures.
