Lin-Manuel Miranda & Germaine Franco were honored with the Annie Award in the Best Music – Feature category for their music from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto at tonight’s (virtual) 49th Annie Awards ceremony. The other contenders in the category were Dan Romer for Luca, Youki Kojima & Yuta Bandoh for Poupelle of Chimney Town, James Newton Howard & Jhené Aiko for Raya and the Last Dragon and Alex Lacamoire (& Miranda) for Vivo. Franco has previously received an Annie Award as part of the music team of Pixar’s 2017 feature Coco. Miranda’s songs and Franco’s score are now available on the official soundtrack album released by Walt Disney Records.
In the Best Music – TV/Media category, Tim Davies & Gustavo Santaolalla won the award for the episode The Sun and the Moon from the Netflix event series Maya and the Three.
