After six years of dating, Ilikena Bolakoro wed his sweetheart Lauren Brooks at the Wesley Church on Butt Street last Friday.

The Colomiers Rugby Club player was the happiest man knowing he would now have his best supporter by his side.

“This new journey will really help me in my rugby career because my wife will support me and this will better my rugby career,” Bolakoro said.

The 28-year-old from Nasigatoka, Rewa, secured his first overseas rugby contract in 2006 with Biarritz Olympique RC when he was still a student of Suva Grammar School.

Former national rep Sireli Bobo helped him with his contract and it was in Biarritz where he met his sweetheart.

“I met my wife in Biarritz in 2009 and we dated for six years before we decided to get married in 2015,” Bolakoro said.

He was with Biarritz from 2006-2012 and joined Colomiers RC in 2012 and played alongside fellow Fijians Wame Lewaravu and Avenusi Vasuinubu.

His plan now is to continue playing the sport he loves and see what the future holds for him.

“My plan is to continue with rugby and enjoy every moment,” he added.

Bobo said he first spotted Bolakoro in 2006

“I read about him in the newspaper back in 2006 so I suggested his name to be part of the Biarritz RC Academy.

“I wish them well in their future endeavours,” Bobo said.

Bolakoro made his debut for Fiji against Samoa on June 27 in 2011.
