Japan's Defence Ministry says missiles believed to have already landed at sea and there were no immediate reports of damage. A devastating roadside bomb attack struck a convoy of foreign diplomats in Pakistan's Swat Valley on Sunday, killing a police officer and injuring four others. The diplomats, nearly a dozen in number, were visiting the area at the invitation of the local chamber of commerce, and thankfully, all the ambassadors remained safe and were swiftly relocated to a secure location before departing for Islamabad. The attack highlights the ongoing security concerns in the Swat Valley, which has long been plagued by Islamist militant insurgency. Pakistani counter-terrorist forces maintain a strong presence in the region, but militants have escalated their attacks since breaking a ceasefire with the government in late 2022. The valley has witnessed several high-profile attacks, including the 2012 shooting of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but authorities suspect the involvement of militant organizations, particularly Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). [Joint Bahraini-Egyptian Venture Secures Spot on 2026 Chinese Lunar Exploration Mission] According to the Daily Tribune news report, the National Space Science Authority (NSSA) has announced the success of the joint Bahraini-Egyptian venture in a global competition hosted by the Chinese Space Agency. This allowed them to secure a spot aboard the Chang’e-7 lunar exploration mission slated for 2026. The mission entails developing, testing, and deploying a multispectral camera to analyse lunar surface materials, which will probe the lunar south pole’s soil composition, including ice water. The collaboration between Bahrain and Egypt stems from a 2022 memorandum of understanding, signifying the strategic partnership’s commitment to advancing scientific frontiers. India and China have reached an agreement on military patrols along their disputed Himalayan frontier, indicating a possible end to their four-year standoff. In a detailed statement provided to "Al-Sa'a" network, the ministry clarified that the rumors of a ban were unfounded and emphasized Iraq’s ongoing peaceful status. The ministry highlighted a recent visit by a delegation, including the Minister of Transport, to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) headquarters in London. This visit aimed to affirm Iraq’s commitment to the international maritime standards set by the IMO, a specialized agency of the United Nations. The ministry's statement underscored the productive discussions held with the IMO Secretary-General and the scheduled IMO inspection in November of the following year, aimed at enhancing cooperative relations. Additionally, the delegation secured agreements to host several training workshops for Iraqi maritime staff, further bolstering the sector’s development.
