Collaboration over great distances – an innovative trial of multi-node online workshop across the Aurora region. ICH North will connect 9 open physical meeting points in Finland, Sweden and Norway. Additionally, participants will be joining from their homes – either together in groups or on their own. The idea is that new theory will be introduced by instructor Mattias Pérez, professional folk musician and experienced lecturer. Then the theory can be tested in practice, together in physical groups. The concept allows for network building across boundaries, as well as for sharing costs and resources. The online workshop is the first of its kind within the field of Nordic folk music. Keep your fingers crossed for the technology to collaborate with us! Thank you to all participants for inspiring meetings and discussions in Sundsvall! ICH North collaborated with Medelpads Folkmusikförbund and the event Samspel i Sundsvall 2024 to arrange various workshops on 18th -19th of October. We brought a group of representatives for our associated partners in Ostrobothnia over the sea, for some cross-border collaboration with our associated partners in Sweden. Music knows no borders! ICH North was one of many Interreg-funded projects on display at the Centria Open Door event yesterday. We brought intangible cultural heritage and a lot of colors to the event. We’re happy that so many students, teachers and stakeholders’ representatives stopped by to say hello and ask us questions. We also got to meet a representative from our main funder, Interreg Aurora, and shared some words on the project activities. A warm thank you to the other projects in Centria UAS’ Wellbeing and Health-department, with whom we shared the exhibition station. We have projects that fit under four research group themes: "HEALTHtech", "Nature and culture", "Social sustainability and cohesion" as well as "Living heritage". It was nice to collaborate with you, as always! Join an open physical meeting point and learn the practice behind head arrangements of traditional music together! Collaborators within the ICH North network in Finland, Sweden and Norway are inviting participants and to come take part of the online workshop at their places. Bring your instrument, take part of the theory, play and socialize together! The event takes place at Monday 4th of November 2024, 12:30-15:45 (SWE/NO) / 13:30-16:45 (FI). Some physical meeting points will also invite their participants to an optional lunch hour before and a jam after the actual online workshop. No physical meeting point close to your location? Arrange your own and invite some musical friends over to partake at your place! All you need is a working internet connection and a screen that everyone can see. (And please be considerate of neighbors that you share walls with, if you are planning to host a bigger group! 😊 ) Want to learn more about head arrangements, but don’t really feel like jamming with others?
