RuPaul's Drag Race season 13 to premiere on 6 sickening networks

VH1, MTV, the CW, and more will simultaneously debut the new season on New Year's Day.

RuPaul's Drag Race is throwing an epic New Year's party at the top of 2021.

Season 13 of the Emmy-winning competition series will premiere across six TV networks for the first time in its 12-year history, with VH1, the CW, MTV, MTV2, PopTV, and Logo airing the first episode simultaneously.

With its showing on the CW, the move marks the broadcast debut of RuPaul's Drag Race, which launched all past seasons on either Logo or VH1—both cable networks.

The first episode is set to feature a shocking lip-sync twist that will see all 13 new queens going wig-to-wig over six lip-sync duels on the main stage soon after entering the Werk Room. The season was filmed safely during the coronavirus pandemic, with safety measures including social distancing, queen quarantine, mask-wearing, and panel dividers installed at the judging table.

"Any other season that comes behind us, you're going to have to step your p---y up," Atlanta drag legend and season 13 contestant Tamisha Iman previously told EW of the new episodes. "Point blank, period. We created history."

RuPaul's Drag Race's season 13 premiere comes on the heels of one of the most successful years for the franchise in history, following season 12, All-Stars 5, and the premiere of both Canada's Drag Race and Drag Race Holland.

In September, RuPaul won his fifth Emmy for hosting the show, while the program became the most-decorated reality competition series in history at the Television Academy's 2020 ceremony.

RuPaul's Drag Race season 13 premieres at 8 p.m. local time on VH1, MTV, MTV2, the CW, PopTV, and Logo, followed by aftershow Untucked at 9:30 p.m. local time. Read EW's exclusive season preview, including interviews with all the queens.
