Everyone has a dark side on Power — but that's not necessarily a bad thing, explains Hardwick. "There's gotta be redemption in all of the characters, or we wouldn't have 7-plus-million viewers."

When Power wrapped its fourth season, the final scene showed Ghost (Omari Hardwick) driving off with his enforcer pal Tommy (Joseph Sikora) and their ex-street boss Kanan (50 Cent). Is the band back together? "There is so much confusion, so much underlying stuff that's going on that you feel like you don't know who you trust in the scenario," 50 Cent tells EW. "There is still so much history, they're never really back together."

Creator Courtney Kemp

Kemp says season 5 will pick up on the same night of the season 4 finale: "My boss Chris Albrecht hates when shows take time between episodes, so we pick up right away."

William Sadler (Tony Teresi)

Tommy's incarcerated dad will be back this season, Kemp reveals. "He will help Tommy criminally, but I can't say how because that would be too much of a spoiler!" she says.

Brandon Victor Dixon (Terry Silver)

Tasha may have told Brandon that she values his job as her attorney over his role as a secret lover at the end of season 4, but that doesn't mean the passion has gone away. "This season we really explore a different side of love, which is that you can break up with somebody, not be with them, and still care about them a great deal," teases Kemp. "Certain feelings never die."

Jerry Ferrara (Joe Proctor)

As Ghost's attorney, Proctor is there to protect his client from a lifetime of mistakes. But there's only so much he an do. "The thing is on our show, it's backwards," explains Kemp. "It's not the one bad thing you do that catches up to you during a perfectly good life; it's the one good thing he did that catches up to him in a bad life. If you're a professional bad guy, you do not leave a living witness."

Rotimi (Dre)

Dre becomes Public Enemy No. 1 in season 5 after Ghost, Tommy, and Kanan have teamed to take him down. But the cloud of death hovers over all of them. "There's gonna be a lot of surprises," teases Hardwick. "We created the ability for everyone to die. There's no one that's exempt."

Lela Loren (Angela Valdez)

Lela Loren

Just because Angela and Ghost are no longer together, it doesn't mean the connection is gone, says Kemp. "There's a lot to be said about the fact that [Ghost's] family is in crisis now and that Angela hosted those kids in her home. She thought they were going to be her stepchildren."

Season 4 ended with Tasha planning to take the fall for a murder her son, Tariq, committed. Will Tasha be fighting to stay out of prison in the new season? "There's not gonna be a trial," Kemp says. "That doesn't mean that there isn't something else that happens, but there's not going to be a trial!"

"This season is about legend versus legacy," says Kemp. "Legend is the story you tell about yourself, and your legacy is the truth of what you leave behind. For these characters, it doesn't really match up. Ghost, for example, thinks he's totally in control of what is going on, and the truth is he's not. Tommy really thinks he can be number one of an organization. I'm not so sure that Tommy can fully pull that off."

"Tommy's just trying to do what he wants to do because he's Tommy, and he is still very invested in selling drugs in a way that Ghost is not," says Kemp. "So there's this natural conflict that springs up between Ghost, Tommy and Kanan, with Kanan kind of being the ringmaster."
