Tom Hiddleston is up to his old tricks in first Loki trailer

The Disney+ series about Thor's scheming sibling premieres in May.

The god of mischief is finally back.

Disney+ has unveiled the first trailer for Loki, the upcoming live-action series starring Tom Hiddleston as the fan-favorite Marvel villain. The footage picks up where Loki was last seen in Avengers: Endgame, when he stole the Tesseract and disappeared. Loki will follow that Avengers-era version of the villain in a new alternate timeline.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige described the new series as a crime drama and confirmed Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant as additional cast members. Per the trailer, it looks like Loki will be dealing with the Time Variance Authority, which monitors realities throughout the multiverse.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, when Loki was first announced, Hiddleston teased, "You guys saw Avengers, right?. So he's still that guy. And just about the last thing that happened to him was he got Hulk-smashed. So there's a lot of psychological evolution that is still yet to happen… This is new territory, a new world, new challenges, and I cannot wait to get started."

Loki will debut in May 2021 on Disney+. Watch the new trailer above.
