EW's editorial guidelines Published on April 23, 2019 11:45AM EDT Oh, the wicked games we play. BET is launching a new series from executive producer Tracey Edmonds titled Games People Play — and EW has an exclusive first look at a scene from the drama. Games stars Lauren London as Vanessa King, a woman who married her high school sweetheart, Marques King (Sarunas J. Jackson). Their lives are changed overnight when Marques becomes a national basketball star — and philanderer. As explained by the network, the series is “a sexy, stylized drama about the L.A. high life, where everyone plays to win. A desperate basketball wife trying to protect her family, a tenacious journalist struggling to rebuild a tarnished career, and a scandalous groupie looking to become a star, find it’s murder trying to stay on top.” The series also stars Jackie Long as Kareem Johnson, Marcus’ best friend and assistant; Parker McKenna Posey as Laila James, a struggling actress; and Karen Obilom as Nia Bullock, a journalist who gets pulled into the group’s dangerous world. Games People Play premieres Apr. 23 at 10 p.m. ET on BET. Related content: Halle Berry teases cameo on BET’s new Boomerang series BET’s Boomerang puts a modern spin on the Eddie Murphy hit: EW review
