The professional wrestler announced during the season finale of Total Bellas that she will retire from the WWE. Bella was at dinner with her family when she made the announcement, sharing that being part of the WWE European tour had made her realize that she was ready for the next chapter of her life, beyond professional wrestling. “I just feel like I’m too old for that travel,” the 35-year-old explained. “So I realized like, why am I doing this — I don’t feel good. I really am ready to hang up the jersey. Like, I can say it fully.” She later added: “Being on the European tour, I’ve had a lot of time to think. Just how my body feels, being away from my company, how time-consuming this is…“I’m ready to put the kicks aside and I’m ready to take Nikki Bella into a different direction.” Bella signed with the WWE back in 2007, alongside her twin sister Brie Bella. They made their SmackDown debut the following year, and she would go on to be WWE Divas champion twice. Since 2016, the sisters have starred together on their E! reality series, Total Bellas.
