How did Anna Paquin and the rest of her True Blood cast mates know the HBO vampire drama with gratuitous blood and gratuitous sex would be a hit? “Oh God, we didn’t,” Paquin, now starring on Pop’s Flack, says.

“It was [series creator] Alan Ball and it was HBO and we all just loved it,” the actress, 36, recalls on PeopleTV’s latest episode of Couch Surfing. “And it was just one of those things where it’s like either we’re all crazy and after this airs people with straightjackets are gonna be coming and collecting us and taking us somewhere to some nice facility to figure out what’s wrong with us, or people are gonna be really into it and they’ll get what we all love about it.”

The latter, obviously, was the case.

The work of Paquin and costars like Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgård, Rutina Wesley, Joe Manganiello, Deborah Ann Woll, and Ryan Kwanten turned the sexy series into a hit that went on for seven seasons. It even led Paquin to her future husband in the form of Moyer, 49.

“They do chemistry reads with actors that had to play opposite each other so you’re auditioning next to each other. I actually already had the job,” Paquin says of when she first met Moyer. “And it turns out we had chemistry. It’s weird.”
