Friends: Lisa Kudrow dishes on a 'really fun' private reunion dinner

The cast of Friends may never reunite onscreen, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been getting together.

“We have convened, privately, for dinner, and it was great,” Lisa Kudrow revealed during an interview on TODAY Tuesday. “It was really fun. We had such a good time. It was hilarious. We were laughing nonstop.”

Speaking for Friends diehards everywhere, host Savannah Guthrie joked, “But what about us?”

Kudrow, an Emmy winner for her role as the eccentric Phoebe Buffay, then proceeded to dash the hopes of a true Friends reunion.

“If we don’t tell you that one’s coming and it doesn’t happen, you have no reason to be disappointed,” she shared. “I’m managing expectations. I don’t see it happening… it would be fun.”

While the cast — minus Matthew Perry — came together last year to honor the show’s director James Burrows, Kudrow’s statement echoes that of many other key Friends players, including co-creator Marta Kauffman, who has bluntly stated, “Reunions generally suck.”

“But what would it be about?” Kudrow asked. “The thing we liked about that show is that twentysomethings, they were their own family, and now, they all have families, so what are we gonna watch?”
