TV Stephen Colbert reveals how Ben Carson is like the Grinch By Oliver Gettell Oliver Gettell Senior news editor, EW.com EW's editorial guidelines Published on February 21, 2017 10:27PM EST Photo: CBS Leave it to Stephen Colbert to illuminate how Ben Carson — the former neurosurgeon and President Trump’s pick for secretary of housing and urban development — is like the Grinch. On Tuesday night’s episode of The Late Show, Colbert mocked Trump’s recent remark that Carson will find “the true meaning of HUD as its secretary.” “Yes, I believe Ben Carson will find the true meaning of HUD,” Colbert said blissfully, “just like in the beloved children’s story How the Grinch Stole Housing.” Colbert also cracked wise about Trump’s boast that he “really started something” by hiring Carson. As Colbert sees things, “It is the greatest achievement for African-Americans since … about four weeks ago when we had a black president.” The Late Show airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
