Theater Laurie Metcalf sets exit date for Broadway's A Doll's House, Part 2 Julie White will succeed her in the leading role beginning July 25 By Eric King Published on July 5, 2017 11:29AM EDT Soon, a new actress will be on the receiving end of Jane Houdyshell’s iconic “F— you, Nora!” in A Doll’s House, Part 2 on Broadway. Producers announced Wednesday that Laurie Metcalf will give her last performance in the production on Sunday, July 23. Metcalf, who won a Tony Award last month for her portrayal of leading woman Nora, will be replaced by Tony winner Julie White starting Tuesday, July 25. Chris Cooper and Condola Rashad, who play Torvald and Emmy respectively, will also take their final bows on July 23. Stephen McKinley Henderson will take over the role of Torvald, Nora’s husband, and Erin Wilhelmi is set to play Emmy, Nora’s abandoned daughter. Jane Houdyshell will remain in the role of Anne Marie, a performance that also garnered a Tony nomination. A sequel to Henrik Ibsen’s avant-garde play, in which a 19th century Norwegian wife leaves her home, slamming the door on her husband and children in the final scene, A Doll’s House, Part 2 reintroduces Nora many years later by walking back in through the same door. The new play garnered eight Tony nominations, more than any other play this year.
