Sarah Hyland describes husband Wells Adams' 'very sexual' reaction to her voice in new role

"It's like my wife is doing Marisa Tomei in 'My Cousin Vinny,' and it's very hot," Adams said.

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams are still seriously in love.

Nearly two years after they wed in August 2022, the Modern Family alum told Live with Kelly & Mark hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on Friday's episode that her latest acting role, playing Audrey in an Off Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, really turned on the Bachelor alum.

"My husband was asking me on the phone, 'Hey, how do you do it? Do it for me!'" she said. "So I gave him a little preview over the phone of the accent."

She explained that the response was "the wildest reaction I could have imagined."

"He goes, 'This is going to be very sexual for me,'" Hyland said.

She was surprised, so Adams explained: "He was like, 'It's like my wife is doing Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny, and it's very hot.'"

Tomei notably used an accent in the 1993 movie, and her performance as Mona Lisa Vito won her the best supporting actress Oscar.

Hyland, who joined the show May 28, explained that she is not doing an imitation of those who played the part before her.

This is her return to the stage after many years away, which left the former Love Island USA host "terrified, nervous [and] fearful" in the days before taking the stage.

At least she's had encouragement from the many other actors who have appeared in the show.

"I'm friends with a lot of the past Seymours, actually. And a lot of them texted me afterwards, like Darren [Criss] and Skyler [Astin] and Matt [Doyle]. They all said the exact same thing — the exact same verbiage," Hyland related. "And I was like, 'Am I joining a cult? Cause I think I'm into it.'"
