EW's editorial guidelines Updated on October 20, 2020 01:25PM EDT Shawn Mendes is getting down to the bare essentials of body and soul in the first trailer for his new documentary In Wonder. The pop heartthrob leads the Netflix feature's first official preview, which chronicles his relationship to fame, music, and the intense pressures he places on himself to deliver perfection to his fans while balancing a healthy emotional life off-stage. "This isn't the story of a famous musician. This is a story about a guy growing up," the 22-year-old Canadian singer says in the clip as shots of performances, physical breakdowns, and sweet moments with his girlfriend, Camila Cabello, flash onscreen. "I used to feel like my idols were born legendary. That's just not the truth. If I tell the world that I'm just a normal human, are they just going to stop coming to the shows? Maybe I should pretend that I'm Superman for a little bit longer." Directed by music video helmer Grant Singer (The Weeknd, Lorde, Sam Smith), In Wonder was also produced by Mendes, who's planning to release his upcoming album Wonder on Dec. 4. In Wonder hits Netflix on Nov. 23. Watch the film's first trailer above.
