Soul musical attraction dancing to Epcot

Jamie Foxx's Pixar film will groove its way to Disney World.

Epcot has found its spark in a new attraction.

Amid the Disney World theme park's ongoing evolution to include more family-friendly experiences, Epcot has announced it is bringing a new exhibit based on the recent Pixar film Soul to the existing American Adventure pavilion.

The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure will take guests on a musical tour of America to learn about the roots of the genre, featuring Jamie Foxx's Joe Gardner — Soul's lead character, a talented musician who regains his passion for the craft after his spirit leaves his body and crosses paths with a lost soul (Tina Fey) who changes his outlook on life.

"One of my favorite things about Epcot is the fact that it truly celebrates the world in a very authentic way, telling stories about people from every walk of life," said Carmen Smith, a creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, in a video promoting the addition. "We're going to make stops in New Orleans, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. We're working with some of the top jazz museums across this country."

The attraction comes on the heels of Epcot's rapid diversification of its attraction lineup, which includes a new Frozen-themed ride at the World Showcase's Norway pavilion, an upcoming Ratatouille ride at the France section, a revamp of the Future World entrance area, and the addition of a Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster inside the former Universe of Energy building.

The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure is scheduled to open in February at Epcot.
