Night Shyamalan could have another hit on his hands with the just-released Glass, the third entry in a trilogy of superhero tales which the filmmaker began with 2000’s Unbreakable and continued with 2017’s Split. Featuring characters like Samuel L. Jackson’s villainous Mr. Glass and the many personalities who inhabit the body of James McAvoy‘s Kevin Wendell Crumb, this universe has its roots not in the comic libraries of Marvel or DC but rather in Shyamalan’s own imagination. So, would the director ever consider adapting a Marvel or DC property for the screen? “I mean, you never know, you never know,” Shyamalan tells EW. “There’s been light conversations in the past about these things. But it would have to be in a way that would allow for very weird, big weirdness to be okay.” Of course, the Marvel Cinematic Universe in particular has gotten a lot weirder in recent years, particularly with Thor: Ragnarok and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. “Yeah, absolutely,” says Shyamalan. “I think [things] are changing. Finding a fresh take on the comic book genre is a very powerful approach now to these movies, and I think one what everybody is looking for.” Watch the trailer for Glass above.
