But now, in a new photo from the sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hope stands side by side her comrade in arms as she assumes her mother’s mantle and gets the co-title role she rightfully deserves. As Hope says in the post-credits scene in the first film, “It’s about damn time.” The film will hit theaters on July 6, 2018 — two months after Avengers: Infinity War lands. Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) will have to deal with the consequences of his choices in Captain America: Civil War and being a father. As he attempts to rebalance his home life, he’s confronted by Hope and Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) with what is described as “an urgent new mission” to “uncover secrets from the past.” Michelle Pfeiffer will play Janet van Dyne, Hope’s mother and the original Wasp. The character appeared very briefly in Ant-Man through a flashback that saw her entering the Quantum Realm, where she was presumably lost forever in its infinite expanse. Also appearing are Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch, Randall Park as agent Jimmy Woo, Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, Judy Greer as Maggie Lang, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Pena as Luis, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, and rapper T.I. as Dave. Peyton Reed directs Ant-Man and the Wasp based on a screenplay by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Rudd, Andrew Barrer, and Gabriel Ferrari.
