Music Katy Perry's mom fooled by viral AI image of her at Met Gala The "Firework" singer shared a text chat with her mom in which she laughed off the incident. By Raechal Shewfelt Published on May 7, 2024 01:31AM EDT Don't feel bad if you were fooled by that AI-generated image of Katy Perry all decked out for Monday's Met Gala. Even the star's mom thought it was real. The American Idol judge posted a screenshot of texts she exchanged with her mom about what, at first glance, appeared to be a regular image of Perry wearing a lovely gown covered with lush flowers to match this year's "The Garden of Time" Met Gala dress code. Her mom wrote, "Didn't know you went to the Met. What a gorgeous gown, you look like the Rose Parade, you are your own float lol." Perry replied to her mom, "lol mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!" She cheekily captioned the post, "Couldn't make it to the MET, had to work." In previous years at the Met Gala, the flesh and blood Perry has impressed with her fanciful looks, which have included dressing like a chandelier and an angel. This year's Met Gala dress code was inspired by J.G. Ballard's short story "The Garden of Time" and is in honor of the Costume Institute's new exhibit, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. Guests hitting the red carpet included virtually every Kardashian/Jenner — with Kim K. even calling the event "a fun, family thing" — as well as Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, divas Lizzo and Dua Lipa, and more top music artists, models, actors, sports figures, and internet celebrities. Co-chairs Anna Wintour, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez, and Zendaya hosted the event. Want more movie news?
