EW's editorial guidelines Updated on June 18, 2024 05:22PM EDT Justin Timberlake has been released from police custody after being arrested on charges of driving "in an intoxicated condition" in the Hamptons early Tuesday morning, according to authorities. The "Can't Stop the Feeling" singer, 43, appeared in court for his arraignment Tuesday and was released shortly afterward, the Sag Harbor Police Department said in a press release. He had been pulled over and subsequently arrested by local authorities in Sag Harbor, which is located on the Eastern tip of Long Island in New York, after his driving caught their attention. “On June 18, 2024, at 12:37 AM, Justin R. Timberlake, age 43, of Tennessee, was observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel," the press release said. "A traffic stop was initiated by a Police Officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition." Mr. Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM where he was released on his own recognizance." A representative for Timberlake did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment. A source told PEOPLE that Timberlake was arrested on the DWI charge while attempting to drive to his friend's house after being spotted at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor. He is also scheduled to perform his second of two nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City that evening. It was not immediately clear if the show would be affected by the court date. The NSYNC member is currently on his Forget Tomorrow world tour and is scheduled to perform in Chicago next on June 21 and 22.
