Gwyneth Paltrow halts hair appointment to celebrate Iron Man husband Robert Downey Jr.'s first Oscar win

Tony Stark and Pepper Potts are now an Academy Award-winning couple.

Hair care is important, but supporting your onscreen-boss-turned-husband comes first. Just ask Gwyneth Paltrow.

On Sunday, the actress and Goop founder paused a hairstyling session to celebrate the first Oscar win for her friend and Iron Man costar Robert Downey Jr. The three-time nominee took home the gilded trophy for his supporting role in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, which won big, scooping up seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Paltrow — who won her own Best Actress statuette for Shakespeare in Love — shared a video of Downey's big moment to her Instagram Story. With foil in her hair and highlights underway, Paltrow watched as Ke Huy Quan announced Downey's win, and then immediately cheered him on. As she celebrated, the camera swung from Downey and his wife, Susan, to Paltrow and her hair stylist.

"[Robert Downey Jr.] takes it!" she wrote over the video.

Downey was previously nominated for Best Actor for Chaplin and Best Supporting Actor for Tropic Thunder. On Sunday he beat out Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction), Robert De Niro (Killers of the Flower Moon), Ryan Gosling (Barbie), and Mark Ruffalo (Poor Things).

"I'd like to thank my terrible childhood and the Academy, in that order," Downey quipped in his acceptance speech. "I'd like to thank my veterinarian — I mean wife — Susan Downey, over there. She found me a snarling rescue pet, and you loved me back to life. That's why I'm here. Thank you."

Paltrow and Downey were the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first couple, sharing the screen in the Iron Man trilogy as well as Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. That's so many MCU projects that Paltrow can barely keep track! But even though she can't name every movie they starred in together, Paltrow thinks fondly of her time working with Downey.

Just last, year the actress — who has been largely preoccupied with her gig as the CEO of a lifestyle brand — said she would return to Hollywood if she got a call from Iron Man himself. "It would be very hard for me to do any acting right at the moment, just because of my job," Paltrow told Entertainment Tonight. "But I guess Robert Downey Jr. could probably always get me back."

If Downey does make that call, perhaps the Oscar-winning duo can discuss their cinematic future — and the value of having a quality doorstop.
