"I was in the shower at the gym one day [and this man came up to me] and he really wanted to express just how much he liked the show, like, 'No, really, man! Seriously! Friggin' love it!' He was completely buck naked. He had a towel — he could have covered himself up — but he was holding the towel in his hand. It was fine. I just kept my eyes at noon on the clock. That was the weirdest situation, but it was still very nice to hear positive thoughts. I would take naked praise over full-clothed disdain any day."

"When I first got to L.A., Scary Movie had come out so I was just getting a little taste of fame, which is like, I would imagine, I've never tried heroin [laughs], but I think it's that first 'Oh my God, this is so fun, people think that I'm important.' That feeling has kind of gone away, but I think I had a moment when I dyed my hair back to blond and people weren't really recognizing me as much. I was at the mall and this guy came up to me and he said, 'Hey, are you who I think you are?' And I did the dumbest thing. I said, 'I don't know, who do you think I am?' And he said, 'No, you're not who I think you are.' I said, 'I don't know, who do you think I am?' Oh, so dumb, and the guy said, 'Britney?' I said, 'No, I'm the girl from Scary Movie.' And he... just walked away.... Your friends and family have to keep your head in check a little bit because, especially when you're young, it's easy to suddenly feel for no reason other than you're just doing your job and you got incredibly lucky that you suddenly are treated with more importance. It's important to remember what your priorities are, so I had to give myself a little talking-to about that."

MARGARET CHO (Fashion Police)

"One time this guy made me a satin white jacket that he had drawn my face on the back of. It was really nice. He had made two, one for him and one for me. He gave me mine, but I think he was kind of embarrassed that he made it, so he didn't really talk to me. He just gave me mine and walked away. So I watched him walk away with my face on the back of his jacket, getting smaller and smaller. It was really nice, but I think he just felt embarrassed by it. I still have the jacket and I love it."

"I don't know what it is, but when people ask to do a selfie with me, they go, 'That was great! Can you do one as [Doug] Stamper?' And I just kind of go to them and do that weird stare. A lot of girls have asked me to take a picture and said, 'Can you just do it with the Stamper face and, like, put your hands around my neck like you're choking me?' I'm like, 'Sure, yeah, if that's what you want.' [Laughs] I know it's creepy, but I do it because it makes their day."

"Once we were in Chicago, because that's where we shoot Empire, and I was in an Uber with Jussie Smollett and Kaitlin Doubleday and, I think, Rafael [De La Fuente], who plays Michael. And there was a car next to our car who saw us and they started screaming, and they were speeding up and all of a sudden we were in The Fast and the Furious. It looked like they were going to ram us. We kept screaming at them to drive safely, to, like, stop because it was really scary. Then at the light they got out and ran over to us to take a picture."

"I was in Toronto on a location scout and a woman came up to me and said, 'Can I take a picture with you?' I said okay, and as someone was taking the picture, she tried to kiss me. And I kind of turned my head like, Whoa. And she licked my neck instead of kissing me—and I was like, double Whoa. And then she took her camera and said thanks and walked away. It was traumatizing!"

JAMES CORDEN (The Late Late Show With James Corden)

"When I was in The History Boys in London, I got a letter from a man saying would I send him a photo of me wearing shorts. Bear in mind, the other boys in this play were predominantly beautiful hunks. So of course I didn't respond. And then I had another letter that said, 'I really want you to send me a picture of you wearing shorts. If you could do this as soon as you can, that would be great.' And of course I didn't respond. And then I got nine pictures of this man wearing shorts and he was... the best way to say it is that in 70 percent of the pictures, he was feeling quite excited, and he was about 60 years old. But he sent the letter as if I didn't know how to take a photo of myself wearing shorts, and just saying, 'This is the sort of thing I'm looking for. If you could do this ASAP. And could you send me these photos back, please?' So I just put his photos back in the stamped, addressed envelope. I just sent them — and only them — back to him and have not heard from him since. He didn't write to any of the other boys. I think he was a real chubby-chaser."

"I remember at that mall tour, with all those T-shirts, someone had created a baby onesie, and they set their baby down on the table and said, 'Will you sign my baby?' I was like, 'I'll sign your baby's shirt; I won't sign your baby.' "

"The craziest fan encounters I've had since [RuPaul's Drag Race] began would probably be from the girls themselves. Our contestants grew up watching the show. These queens, their whole drag aesthetic comes from watching the show. So it was interesting to work with them. They know all the ins and outs, and it presents a very interesting dilemma for the producers because we've got to try to outsmart them, because they know everything! They know what we're going to do before we're going to do it — sort of. The typical reaction when the drag queens on our show meet me for the first time is they are shocked that I'm taller than they think, and my guess is that they're shocked at how business I am, and how I mean business. I'm there to work. It's funny because the only time you see me actually with them — you know, 'camaraderie' — is on camera. When the camera's not rolling, I'm not with them at all. We like to keep it that way so I can put my foot down when I need to. And I do."

"I have to be honest, when I was doing a network show, I got recognized more. A woman came up to me once, an older woman, and said, 'How do they make your head look so big on TV?' And I was so stunned by the question! I tried to fathom an answer, and I was like, 'I... I'm not sure?' And, like, sort of almost apologizing that my head was so clearly disturbing to her. I scuttled off shortly after that. I wasn't sticking around for any more questions."

"Mostly it's people who say they went to Halloween as me. I met a man in Iowa, in the Starbucks, when I was there being a Hillary [Clinton] surrogate during the caucuses. And I was in a hotel, and I went down for a coffee, and I saw a man — he had short gray hair and round glasses and a thin face — and I smiled and went, 'Hi, we could be brother and sister.' And he went, 'Well, I went as you, I went as Dean Munsch for Halloween. In drag.' And then he showed me a picture. Amazing. That doesn't happen to me every day."

"I was out to eat dinner one time and this woman came up to me, and she was so lovely, and she said, 'I'm sorry, I just have to tell you, I recognize you from Mr. Selfridge.' And I said, 'Oh, thank you so much.' And she's like, 'I'm David Beckham's mother, and I wonder if I can get a picture with you.' So David Beckham's mother really wanted a picture with Mr. Selfridge. It was very sweet."
