TV Succession's Brian Cox says he's 'dazzled' by people who 'want to be told to f--- off!' "My mother would not appreciate the bad language I've been using over the years," the "Succession" star says on the Emmys red carpet. By Clark Collis Clark Collis Senior Writer EW's editorial guidelines Published on January 15, 2024 08:26PM EST What has been the most surreal aspect of playing foul-mouthed media boss Logan Roy on Succession for Brian Cox? When EW Managing Editor Patrick Gomez asked the Scottish actor that question on the red carpet for Sunday's Emmys he received a, perhaps predictably, foul-mouthed response with Cox expressing his continued surprise about people asking him to be rude to them. "I'm dazzled by the fact that human beings want to be told to 'f--- off," said Cox, a nominee for Best Actor In A Drama. "I find that extraordinary. And, of course, it's the easiest thing to say to somebody, 'Oh, f--- off.' It's so easy, and it's become this kind of phenomenon thing. My mother's long gone but she would not appreciate the bad language that I've been using over the years." Brian Cox. Borja B. It's always good to leave people wanting, so that people want more, rather than satiate them, so we get out at the right point, and that's what we did on the show, and I think that's what makes the show the success it is." Then again, Cox doesn't seem entirely opposed to reprising the role of Logan. Asked if we might see a "ghost Logan" at some point, the actor replied, "Right, well, that will be interesting. There is a theory that Logan may not be dead. We never saw the body so that's an advantage."
