Kieran Culkin's wife told him they could (maybe) have another baby if he won the Emmy

"Succession" star revealed spouse Jazz Charton's comment during acceptance speech at Sunday's ceremony.

Winning an Emmy can increase interest in your show. And, if you're Kieran Culkin, taking home a trophy might also increase the chances of you further growing your family.

On Sunday, Culkin won the Lead Actor In A Drama Series Emmy for portraying Roman Roy on Succession. In the course of his acceptance speech, he reminded his wife, Jazz Charton, of something she had said might happen if Culkin was victorious in his category.

"Thank you for sharing your life with me and for giving me two amazing kids," the actor said, directly addressing Charton, who was sitting in the audience. "And, Jazz, I want more. You said, maybe, if I win."

After leaving the stage, Culkin elaborated on his comments in the press room, explaining that the couple "were just talking about that a couple of months ago. I’ve been asking for a while. My wife, Jazz, said 'maybe if you win the Emmy, haha.' I didn’t bring it up for months, and then when I won the Globe, I said, 'Do you remember what you said?' And she goes, 'No! what did I say?' So, I told her, and it all came back to her. So, she spent the whole week being nervous. So, instead of talking to her in private like a human, I blasted it on stage, which was very rude. That’s it. That’s the whole story."

Asked if he would consider naming a third child "Roman" Culkin replied, "No. Nor Emmy nor any other cute little thing."

The actor went on to praise his mother, Patricia Bentrup, while criticizing, without naming, his father Kit Culkin, with whom the Succession actor has a difficult relationship. (In 2018, Kieran told Vanity Fair that Kit "wasn't really a big part of my life after the age of 15... My mom was the parent, so when he wasn't there it was nicer and better.")

Kieran described Bentrup as "just an absolutely wonderful woman who took on raising seven kids, in basically a studio apartment by herself. There was a guy there, but he didn’t do anything. She’s just an amazing woman. I didn’t know I wanted to be a parent, but the moment I found out I was going to be a dad, I just wanted to be like her."
