EW's editorial guidelines Published on January 11, 2024 05:19PM EST We'll take "questionable casting decisions" for $500, because Emma Stone can't seem to land a spot on Jeopardy, no matter how hard she tries. On the latest episode of Variety's Awards Circuit podcast, the Poor Things star and recent Golden Globes winner revealed that she really, really wants to compete on the beloved quiz show. "I apply every June," Stone said. And she isn't interested in taking the easy way out. "I don't want to go on Celebrity Jeopardy," Stone continued, referring to the star-studded spinoff that features less-challenging clues. "I want to earn my stripes. You can only take the test once a year with your email address, and I've never gotten on the show." Emma Stone. Taylor Hill/FilmMagic This isn't a random whim for Stone, who takes her prep very seriously. "I watch it every single night and I mark down how many answers I get right," she said. "I swear, I could go on Jeopardy." Currently in its 40th season, Jeopardy is one of the longest-running game shows in history. Until recently it was hosted by both Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik, who succeeded longtime host Alex Trebek after his death in 2020. But last month Bialik — who temporarily stepped back from her hosting duties in May in solidarity with striking members of the Writers Guild of America — announced that she was officially out as Jeopardy host, though "deeply grateful for the opportunity" to have been a part of the show. Jennings subsequently said he "loved working with my Mayim" and was "gonna miss her." Stone can currently be seen on the big and small screens in Poor Things and The Curse. But put her on Jeopardy already, you cowards! Want more TV news? Sign up for Entertainment Weekly's free newsletter to get the latest trailers, celebrity interviews, film reviews, and more.
