EW's editorial guidelines Updated on November 27, 2023 08:43AM EST Disneyland's It's a Small World boat ride was a world of laughter before it was a world of (figurative) tears after a park guest at the California resort stripped naked outside of the classic attraction over the weekend. As seen in several videos and photos that circulated Sunday online — and confirmed to EW by 27-year-old attendee Maegan Carmona, who was on the ride at the time of the incident — an unidentified Disneyland guest climbed through several of the attraction's interior show scenes, ran through the ride's water canals, and was reportedly apprehended by authorities after traversing the exterior of the ride while completely naked. Carmona tells EW that she and other riders noticed something was off at around 3 p.m. local time, when their boats began to slow down during the ride's course. She then noticed a guest walking around in one of the off-limits show scenes, which prompted the ride to pause operations for around 20 minutes, she recalls. "We noticed he started climbing onto the different parts of the ride, and we noticed that he was undressed," Carmona says, adding that, by the time the guest reached her sightline, he was already undressed down to his underwear. "He just looked out of it," Carmona remembers, adding that she was concerned for the guest's wellbeing, but praises the group of at least four cast members who attempted to help him get down from the ride's structure while the boats stopped. "He just didn't look like he knew where he was. He looked worried. My friends and I had seen him, and it looked like he was going to jump on us. The cast member got him to sit down for a minute, but after that he continued walking in the opposite direction, behind us. Once he got to a different part of the ride, he ended up walking into the water and started drinking the water, and ran off toward the entrance of the ride." Carmona says the guest moved quickly down the canal system, and that she lost sight of him after he ran down the channel in the opposite direction of the way the boats typically travel through the ride. A subsequent, NSFW clip appears to show the nude guest being carried away from the scene by a group of police officers and Disneyland staff members. It's a Small World ride at Disneyland. You're going to get hurt!" someone screams at the guest in Carmona's Instagram video (above) while he scales a scene in the ride's Middle Eastern-themed section, all while a cast member can be heard speaking to other riders over the attraction's loudspeaker system. EW has reached out to representatives for Disneyland and the Anaheim Police Department for comment. In October, another Disney guest landed in hot water — and literal water — after jumping from a foot bridge into Epcot's World Showcase Lagoon at Florida's Walt Disney World resort. Earlier this year, a young woman was captured on video jumping out of a boat on Disneyland's since-closed Splash Mountain flume ride, reportedly as she suffered a panic attack. One of the most beloved rides in Disney parks history, It's a Small World — a slow-moving journey through different scenes celebrating world cultures — first opened under Walt Disney's direction as a temporary attraction at the 1964 New York World's Fair, before opening at Disneyland as a permanent ride in 1966. Subsequent versions later opened at Disney World's Magic Kingdom in 1971, at Tokyo Disneyland in 1983, at Disneyland Paris in 1992, and at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2008.
