Cara Maria previews her showdown with Laurel in The Challenge: All Stars 4 final (exclusive)

"It might come down to me and Laurel, again," Cara Maria tells "Entertainment Weekly."

The Challenge champions Cara Maria Sorbello and Laurel Stucky have one of the most complex (and confusing) relationships of the entire franchise.

The two fierce competitors first met on their rookie seasons, Fresh Meat II, but didn't really get to know each other until the next season due to Cara's early exit. It was 2010's Cutthroat that began their long, fraught history, first as teammates who hated each other before becoming literal Rivals partners, which allowed them to evolve into "sisters" who fought, but ultimately had each other's backs. The many years and seasons since then has documented their roller coaster of a relationship, and it's all led to the upcoming All Stars 4 final.

Cara Maria and Laurel have fought against each other all season long, both in the competition and in the house, and now they've both made it to the end, which is the first time both women will compete against each other in a final and not on the same team. Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive clip from the finale where Cara Maria previews her showdown with Laurel, and she brings it all the way back to their infamous fight right before the Cutthroat final.

"On Cutthroat, Laurel, she had a talk with me about, 'You're just a JV player, I'm on the varsity team," Cara says as old footage plays showing Laurel telling Cara she's not ready for a final. "And I feel like my entire Challenge career has been, 'I'll show you' to everybody. And now it might come down to me and Laurel, again."

For fans who don't remember, 14 years ago, Cara and Laurel were on the same team on Cutthroat. Laurel told Cara to her face that she didn't think Cara would be able to finish the grueling race and would hold back the rest of her team, costing them the win. But in a twist of fate, it was two other teammates who had to quit due to dehydration while Cara held her own, and their team finished in second place. Cara and Laurel came in second place again as a duo on Rivals. Since then, Cara has won twice and Laurel has won once.

The Challenge: All Stars 4 finale debuts Wednesday on Paramount+.
