Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Fire Lord Ozai in the Netflix series, first voiced the role of General Fong in Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender. In the premiere episode of season 2, Fong, an aggressive Earth Kingdom officer, tried to force Aang into the Avatar State with unorthodox methods.

Kim returned for the animated sequel series The Legend of Korra in a more recurring role, Hiroshi Sato, the wealthy founder of Future Industries and the father of Asami Sato, one of Avatar Korra's closest allies and eventual girlfriend.

Now as Fire Lord Ozai in the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender, Kim takes over a role previously voiced by Mark Hamill in the animated original. Determined to continue what his predecessor Fire Lord Sozin began, the ruler of the Fire Nation will do whatever it takes to achieve world domination.

What was supposed to be a bit character in the original series became a fan favorite. James Sie voiced the unnamed Cabbage Merchant, whose precious cabbages were constantly damaged whenever Team Avatar was in the vicinity. Sie now gets to play the same role in live action.

"I've got to say, we had a lot of big names. He was probably the biggest celebrity we had on set," Albert Kim, showrunner of Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender, tells EW. "Everyone wanted to take a selfie with James, especially when he got into his costume, myself included."

In the live-action series, Takei now voices the role of Koh, an ancient and predatory spirit known for stealing the faces of his victims. Erik Todd Dellums voiced Koh in the animated original.

Randall Duk Kim didn't voice any characters from the animated Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra, but he does have a connection to the franchise. Kim had a small role as the unnamed "Old Man in Temple," an Earth Kingdom citizen who would visit the remains of the Southern Air Temple, in M. Night Shyamalan's live-action movie adaptation The Last Airbender.

Kim will now voice Wan Shi Tong, a spirit of knowledge who takes the form of a giant owl, in Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender.
