The cast of Fuller House (and its predecessor, Full House) paid tribute to Alan Thicke, who died Tuesday at age 69, on Twitter and Instagram after finding out the news. The actor recently appeared on the Netflix comedy series as a guest star in its second season, which debuted this past Friday.

“I’m sad beyond words that Alan Thicke has passed away,” Candace Cameron Bure wrote on Instagram. “I’ve known you since I was 8 years old and so glad I had the pleasure of working with you again so recently on Fuller House. You were a part of my family and hockey family. You will be greatly missed.”

Thicke appeared in the newest season’s second episode, where he played a grandfather someone was trying to set DJ (Cameron Bure) up with. He’s perhaps most known for starring on Growing Pains, a family sitcom that shared a network, ABC, with the original Full House in the late ’80s and early ’90s.

Full House stars Bob Saget, John Stamos, and Dave Coulier (who’ve also made appearances on the reboot) also honored Thicke. “Such a good husband, father, brother, and friend,” Saget wrote on Twitter. “He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace dear Alan.”

Coulier posted a photo of him and Thicke alongside a hockey-themed message. “RIP Alan Thicke,” he said. “We skated side by side for years. Say hello to Gordie and The Rocket for me.”

Stamos put up a picture as well, writing, “Damn. Loved this guy. Loved his self-deprecating sense of humor. Charming, funny and sweet. Hell of a combo. We’ll miss you.”
