Casting in Hollywood isn't always as complicated as you think — sometimes directors know exactly which actors and actresses will do the best job to execute their visions. At least, that was the case when Ike Barinholtz wrote and directed a few episodes in the newest season of The Mindy Project, streaming now on Hulu.

Barinholtz, who plays the quirky, lovable nurse Morgan Tookers on the show, stopped by EW's What to Watch podcast this week to discuss The Mindy Project's current season as well as new additions to the cast and the impressive lineup of guest stars being featured on the show.

Barinholtz discussed his dream casting and what material usually ends up on the cutting room floor before he revealed that Happy Endings star Casey Wilson will be featured in one of the show's upcoming episodes.

"We just shot an episode last week that will air in a month or so where one of Mindy's old friends from her past comes back," he started. "And, kind of, right after we read the table read, Mindy and I were talking and we were like, 'What about Casey Wilson?'"

Wilson isn't the first Happy Endings star to get a role on the series. After Happy Endings was cancelled by ABC in 2013, Adam Pally joined Mindy Lahiri and friends as a series regular playing Dr. Peter Prentice, an OB/GYN, for two seasons, and Eliza Coupe appeared in four episodes last season.

EW's What to Watch also breaks down the six new episodes of Netflix drama Black Mirror with the help of correspondent Shirley Li.
