The 18-year-old actress, who has no tolerance for body shaming, recently criticized the Republican presidential nominee for the many crude and degrading comments he’s made about women. “I think it’s really disappointing that we’ve made so many strides towards promoting body positivity for women — and for men — and for empowering women, and he really kind of just tears it all down,” the Modern Family star said inan interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I think it’s really disappointing that he’s made it this far — that he is a presidential candidate, and this is possibly the person who will be representing the United States.” Trump has a long history of making lewd comments about women’s bodies, and was criticized throughout the campaign for his comments about Megyn Kelly, Rosie O’Donnell, and former Miss Universe winner Alicia Machado, among others — and that was before the release of a now-infamous Access Hollywood video from 2005 where Trump said his level of famed allowed him to grab women “by the p—y.” The GOP nominee also critiqued women’s bodies during his frequent Howard Stern radio show appearances, discussing everyone from Princess Diana to the cast of Desperate Housewives. Winter, an outspoken advocate for body positivity, isn’t the only person to call Trump out for body shaming women. During all three presidential debates, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton slammed Trump for the negative things he said about Machado. Other celebrities speaking out against Trump include Aziz Ansari, Lena Dunhnam, and Samantha Bee.
