EW's PopFest: Author lineup includes Anne Rice, Chris Colfer, more

Calling all book lovers! EW’s PopFest will feature some beloved authors on the list of talent that already includes James Corden, Nick Jonas, an anniversary screening of Scream, and a conversation between husband-and-wife YA superstars Tahereh Mafi (Shatter Me) and Ransom Riggs (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children).

Famed gothic novelist Anne Rice, NastyGal’s Sophia Amoruso, and Terry McMillan will be among the writers stopping by EW’s celebration of all things pop culture in Los Angeles on Oct. 29 and 30. Former Glee star and author Chris Colfer will also make a special appearance.

Anne Rice, Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis, Saturday, Oct. 29

Interview with the Vampire author Anne Rice returns with Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis, out Nov. 29. PopFest-goers will have an opportunity to meet Anne Rice, receive an exclusive, special advance copy of her book — and get it signed by the legendary writer herself.

Sophia Amoruso, Nasty Galaxy, Date TBA

Sophia Amoruso, the founder of NastyGal.com and best-selling author of #Girlboss (2015) — which Netflix is turning into a TV show executive produced by Charlize Theron and written by Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon — will read from her newest book Nasty Galaxy, which comes out on Oct. 4, and sign. The book is a graphic and textual look at Sophia’s brain, with a foreword written by Courtney Love.

Terry McMillan, I Almost Forgot About You , Saturday, Oct. 29

The New York Times best-selling author of How Stella Got Her Groove Back and Waiting to Exhale will be signing copies of her latest novel, I Almost Forgot About You, which brings another complex heroine to the page: Dr. Georgia Young, who quits her job and embarks on a journey to change her life.

Chris Colfer, The Land of Stories, Date TBA

The Golden Globe-winning Glee alum and New York Times best-selling author will read from the newest installment in his wildly popular series, The Land of Stories. The children’s novels follow twins who travel through a magical realm where they meet fairy tale heroes and villains — the latest book, The Land of Stories: A Treasury of Classic Fairy Tales, arrives Oct. 18. Popfest-goers will have an opportunity to purchase signed copies of the author’s work.

Victoria Aveyard, King’s Cage, Saturday, Oct. 29

Victoria Aveyard’s New York Times best-selling Red Queen series follows Mare Barrow, who lives in a world divided by red and silver blood, and harbors a dangerous secret of her own. The series continues with King’s Cage, out Feb. 7, 2017 — at a special appearance, Aveyard will sign copies of the first two installments, Red Queen and Glass Sword.

Jade Chang, The Wangs vs. The World , Sunday, Oct. 30

One of this fall’s hottest debuts comes from L.A. resident Jade Chang, whose hilarious novel The Wangs vs. The World follows a once-wealthy Chinese immigrant family, led by patriarch Charles Wang, as they set off on a cross-country road trip after losing their fortune. Meet Chang as she reads from and signs copies of The Wangs.

In addition to the signings and readings from authors, EW PopFest will feature appearances by Jodie Foster, James Corden, Anna Faris, the cast of Happy Endings, and many more. A 20th anniversary screening of Wes Craven’s Scream, a sneak peek at the first footage from the Dark Tower movie, and musical performances by Nick Jonas and Janelle Monae are also planned.
